PC Health Advisor Review

pc-health-advisor-reviewPC Health Advisor is an application that was developed by ParetoLogic that promises to help keep your computer running smoothly. This software works by not just removing malware, but also by tuning up your computer in other ways.

What Does PC Health Advisor Do?

The app promises to be a one-stop shop for all of the things you need to do to improve the performance of your computer. It includes several components, such as:

  • Driver updates: Automatically check for updates for your computer hardware’s drivers, to improve the performance and stability of the hardware. Many problems with computers are caused by out of date drivers.
  • Performance Monitor: Identify programs that run automatically in the background, so that you can disable them if you do not use them, freeing up memory and processor time for more important things.
  • Malware and Spyware Detection: Find and get rid of malware and spyware that could be slowing your computer down, consuming your internet connection’s bandwidth, and even potentially sharing personal information stored on your computer.
  • Privacy Cleaner: Get rid of any stored searches, form data and your browser’s cache as well as the history. Cover your tracks if you have been searching for things you might not want other computer users to see.
  • Duplicate File Search: Find duplicates of photos, videos, and other media, so that you can delete the extras and free up valuable drive space.
  • Disk Defragmentation: If you have a physical hard disk (not an SSD) then a defrag tool will speed up the performance of any work that your drive has to do.
  • File Extension Tools: Do you have a file that you don’t recognize, so you don’t know what to open it with? The File Extension Tool Finder will help you to figure out what app you need in order to open that file.
  • Registry Cleaning: Sometimes when you uninstall apps they don’t delete entries from the registry. Those extra entries can cause problems for your computer and can slow things down a lot.

This program makes it very easy to keep your computer running smoothly.

PC Health Advisor: Is It Easy To Use?

The PC Health Advisor user interface is very simple – it features just a few tabs and a few large, clearly labelled buttons on each tap. You don’t need to know a lot about computers to use the tool – just follow the instructions. There’s even a big ‘Start Scan’ button on the front page that will scan your computer and tell you what you need to do next.

Once the scan has been completed, you are asked what you want to fix. You can fix individual problems and ignore others (there may be reasons you would want to do this, but only if you know what you’re doing), or you can just click ‘fix all’. You might need to reboot a few times to fix everything.

The tool will show you the health rating of your computer, and you might need to scan more than once to get the health rating into good territory, but it will be worth it because the computer should boot more quickly, and run better overall with fewer slowdowns and crashes, once you are done.

You can use PC Health Advisor with most modern versions of Windows up to and including Windows 10.

pc-health-advisor-disk-defragThe software is safe to use. Some people are confused by it because the limited trial is heavily promoted, and you have to pay to access all of the features, but don’t confuse aggressive marketing with malware itself. The app is very useful, and it tries to be as non-disruptive as possible. For example, when you stop programs from running on start up to save memory, the apps aren’t deleted from your computer – they are still there for you if you want to use them. All the tool does is stop them from being pre-loaded.

The other tools, such as the history cleaner, will get rid of ‘user data’ but don’t make invasive changes to the browser. The File Extension Manager will give you a list of applications that can open the file that you are looking at – and then you choose what you want to download. You’re given a selection of apps with prices and reviews, so you can pick whatever suits you best.

The defrag tool is useful if you have a physical hard drive but won’t do anything for SSDs. Still, there’s no harm in using it to see if you notice any improvement in performance.

I highly recommend PC Health Advisor for anyone who wants help with getting the most out of their PC. It’s an easy to use tool that covers most common computer problems, and should save you from a lot of tech support nightmares if you run it periodically to check your computer’s status.
